Speak the truth about abortion in love. It is a very intense spiritual battle between the ‘Culture of Death’ and the ‘Culture of Life’. The choice is made so clear in John 10:10:
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have LIFE, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
I can hear many already saying:”Are you crazy? Talk about abortion at Christmas?! I maintain, by all means ‘Yes!’ Can you imagine what life would be like today if Mary, the Mother of God, had ‘chosen’ to abort Jesus? Think about the historical consequences! Stop and really think about it!
Yesterday, Vatican Cardinal Burke said:
“We can never talk enough about abortion.”

He also said: “We can never talk enough about that as long as in our society innocent and defenceless human life is being attacked in the most savage way. I mean it’s literally a massacre of the unborn.”
I call this ‘massacre’ of the unborn ‘aborterrorism’ which is the worst form of terrorism. It is a genocidal tsunami of death of the most innocent and defenceless human beings in the wombs of women throughout the world! ( cf: www.aborterrorism.ca )
Today, there is such a contrast between the ‘cold and selfish’ society we live in and the ‘Spirit of giving’ which CHRISTmas teaches us! The greatest ‘gift’ ever given to the human race was God the Father’s gift of His only Son, Jesus Christ, through the Virgin Mary, Mother of God.
“For God so loved the world, as to GIVE his only begotten Son; that whosoever believes in him, may not perish, but may have LIFE everlasting.” (John 3:16.)
The birth and life of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour as taught in the Word of God needs to be known and celebrated as never before in this horrible ‘Culture of Death’, this consumer oriented, selfish society. Everyone must know at Christmas that “Jesus Is The Reason For The Season!”
The reason the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas must be known and celebrated is that the WHOLE WORLD needs to know that the ‘Gift’ of Jesus Christ, the baby in the manger, is God’s answer for the salvation of sinners and the Mercy of God extended with an awesome Love to everyone who will open their hearts and acknowledge Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. We urgently need to overcome the ‘Culture of Death’ with a ‘Culture of Life’. Pope John Paul II in his Encyclical ‘The Gospel of Life’, explained it so well. He said:
“In a word, we can say that the cultural change which we are calling for demands from everyone the courage to adopt a new lifestyle, consisting in making practical choices–at the personal, family, social and international level–on the basis of a correct scale of values: the primacy of ‘being’ over ‘having’, of the ‘person’ over ‘things’.
This renewed lifestyle involves a passing from indifference to concern for others, from rejection to acceptance of them. Other people are not rivals from whom we must defend ourselves, but brothers and sisters to be supported. They are to be ‘loved’ for their own sakes, and they enrich us by their very presence. In this mobilization for a new culture of life no one must feel excluded: everyone has an important role to play.” (98)
I urge you, seek God’s face in prayer and determine how He can use you to support the Culture of Life. For example one of the things I do is include pro-life literature in my Christmas cards. Will we be persecuted and hated for doing this. Definitely at some point, yes. But your efforts will not be in vain. God will use them to save the unborn babies from aborterrorism. This Christmas season, please don’t follow the world by being politically correct and wishing people a godless and pagan ‘Happy Holiday’.
Rather, have the humility, the love and courage to wish one and all the greatest of gifts: a “Merry CHRISTmas” and say a prayer for them to have a “personal encounter” with the GIFT of all gifts, “Jesus Christ”, who with His precious blood opened the way to Eternal Life and teaches us how we may have a Culture of Life on earth.
Remember, “Jesus said to him, “I am the WAY, and the TRUTH, and the LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
